Unlike the 2015 election when the then president, "President Goodluck Ebele Johnathan" quickly congratulated the president elect President Muhammad Buhari.
The political parties involved in 2023 presidential election believe that there were irregularities in just concluded 2023 election which brought Bola Ahmed Tinubu into power.
The parties have called for a cancellation of the election and asked INEC to fix another date for a new election after working out on INEC collection center due to the irregularities on the side of INEC.
Despite their calling, INEC went ahead to announce Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the election.
The political parties which includes PDP, LP, NNPP and others has gone to election tribunal to challenge the results. And also asked the tribunal to grant them leave to inspect BVAS and INEC electoral material used in on the election.
INEC insisted that because of the governorship and state house election on 11th March, 2023 the BVAS need to be reconfigured to make a space for data acquisition on forthcoming election. They (INEC) went to supreme court on 6th March to obtain a court order for their engineers to reconfigure the equipment, but that did not happen until 8th March 2023. After the court hearing from INEC and the political parties.
After the judgement, INEC said it was too late for their engineers to backup the records on the BVAS for further inspection by the aggrieved political parties. And the election has to be shifted for at least a Week to give more room for the backup to be done.
